Led by a third-generation carpenter with more than 20 years of field experience, we provide new deck construction, deck repairs, resurfacing, deck and porch stair replacement, railing work, and select porch projects.

These are the questions we hear most often from Northern New Jersey homeowners.
Is my deck a repair, resurfacing, or full replacement project?
That depends on the condition of the framing, footings, connections, stairs, and railings. We review what can reasonably be seen, explain what appears worth keeping, and tell you when a repair or resurfacing approach does not make sense.
Will the proposal identify the exact work and materials included?
Yes. The proposal is intended to define the agreed scope clearly and identify material selections specifically where they are known. Assumptions, exclusions, allowances, and conditions that still need to be confirmed are separated so you can see what the price is based on.
Who handles drawings, permits, and inspections?
Requirements vary by project and municipality. Before the agreement is finalized, we explain what appears to be required, which responsibilities Stergion Construction will handle, which decisions or documents we need from you, and which outside or municipal costs are separate.
What happens if hidden damage or another unknown condition is found?
We stop at the point where the finding affects the agreement and explain what was found, why it matters, the solution or available options, and any price or schedule effect. You make the decision before the changed work proceeds.
How should I compare two contractor proposals?
Compare the scope, materials, assumptions, exclusions, and responsibility before comparing the total price. Two proposals may use the same project name while describing different work. Our homeowner project guide explains what to look for.
What areas and project types are the best fit?
We are based in Morris County and serve Northern New Jersey. New decks, controlled repairs, resurfacing, stair replacements, railing work, and select porch projects are evaluated based on location, scope, scheduling, and whether we can execute the work properly.
